The Third Eye opens

Psychics are not like the other types of supernatural beings that are currently roaming the world. All of their power is within themselves and stems only from the power of their own minds. This internal locus of control sets them apart. They are human, but they are better than regular humans. Whether they represent the dominance of ancient angel-infused bloodlines or a next step in human evolution is always a subject of debate, but psychics go on about their business largely indifferent to the ramifications.
When making a psychic we have a few suggestions for things to consider to help flesh out your character:
- At what age did your character start manifesting their powers?
- Most psychic abilities manifest at some point in the early childhood years, and typically, the stronger the psychic is the earlier the abilities will manifest.
- How does the psychic use their abilities?
- Do they try to help their fellows or do they use their powers and abilities to advance their own agenda?
- How much control over their powers does the psychic have?
- Psychics may or may not have entire control over their powers, especially when emotions are high or when the psychic is agitated. How much control does your psychic have over their powers?
Unlike other supernatural beings, when you decide to create a psychic, you don’t get to choose to select x-powers from x-category, instead you receive a number of points. These points are then used to "buy" psychic powers at a certain strength level. For example: Samantha Winchester, is a powerful demon-blooded psychic, and has a total of 22 points with which to buy psychic powers. She can choose to buy 3 psychic powers (let’s say Exorcise Demons, Precognition, and Pyrokinesis) all at the 'Dominant' level of psychic strength and she has 4 more points she can spend to pick up other talents. Outside of being granted powers or extra abilities as the thrall, devotee, or servant of some supernatural power, any given psychic cannot have more than 12 abilities regardless of what strength levels these abilities have.
Innate Powers & Abilities
- Cognition - Psychics are able to enhance their minds, granting themselves increased intelligence, improved memory capacity, problem solving skills, and logical reasoning. This power lasts for a scene after which the psychic is drained of energy and must rest in order to replenish its mind and give its body a chance to recover.
- Crystal Capacitors - Psychics derive all of their power from their own minds, but the psychic energy generated by the mind can be stored in certain crystals such as quartz or precious stones. The psychic can then use these crystals as energy reserves or emergency power. Crystals will gradually discharge their stored power and will need to be recharged periodically.
- Force of Will - Psychics have incredibly strong minds, capable of resisting external influences and successfully recognizing when someone is attempting to manipulate or affect their minds.
- Psychic Backlash - When the psychic becomes aware of someone or something trying to influence its mind, it can lash out at the source of that interference, stunning whoever had the temerity to try and meddle with the psychic’s mind. This power works on vampires, demons, and other psychics.
- Physical Genius - The psychic is capable of briefly endowing its physical body with superhuman strength, speed, and resilience. This power lasts for a scene after which the psychic is drained of energy and must rest in order to replenish its mind and give its body a chance to recover.
Weaknesses

- Only Human - Regardless of their powers and capabilities, psychics, even demon-blooded psychics, remain mortal. They have to eat, sleep, and do all the other things that people have to do in order to maintain their lives.
- Psychic Burn - Psychics have the ability to push themselves, using their powers for extended periods of time or temporarily boosting their strength. When they do so, if they are forced to rely on their psychic talents repeatedly, they do so at the risk of doing harm to their own minds. The longer a psychic uses their powers, or the more frequently they are forced to call on their innate powers, the greater the damage they can do to themselves. At the low end of possibilities are migraines or seizures - at the extreme edge is cerebral hemorrhage and death via aneurysm.

Power Costs
Gift Strength | Description |
Point Cost |
---|---|---|
Least | Least gifts are tiny trickles of power compared to even Minor powers, the power is extant but not particularly powerful and not particularly impressive. | 1 |
Minor | Minor Gifts are less powerful than Major gifts but can give the psychic an edge in otherwise grim situations and may nudge things in the psychic's favor with a little concentration. | 2 |
Major | Major gifts are less powerful than Dominant psychic abilities, but are nothing to dismiss out of hand either. While incapable of matching the raw strength of a Dominant gift, a Major power can still give others a good run for their money and achieve remarkable results. | 4 |
Dominant | The power of the psychic's gift is astounding. At this level of power the psychic can immitate the feats and powers of Magi, Lycanthropes, and Vampires. | 6 |
