Arise you Heavenly Hosts

Despite their many and varied responsibilities, Angels are first and foremost, warriors of the Lord, agents of Fate, and protectors of Earth and Humanity. Ideally at least, they would fill these roles gladly as it is part and parcel to the very reason of their existence. As you consider this role and how best to portray it, here are some things to consider and think about to help you along the way:

• How does your angel view humans? Are they to be protected? Enslaved? Destroyed?
• How does your angel feel about Lucifer and the rebels? Did they deserve the punishment they got, or was it too harsh and Lucifer was right?
• How does your angel view his role in the greater cosmos? Does the angel have charge over a nation, a people, a family, or a single soul? Why or why not? Does your angel represent some aspect of heavenly virtue such as Justice, Valor, Forgiveness, Mercy, or Kindness?
• How does your angel view other angels? Does it consider other angels to be family?
• How does your angel feel about God?

When considering your vessel, consider who they were, who they are or might be. Why did the human grant permission for the angel to possess him or her? Does anyone else know about the angel? Does the vessel have friends? Family? What about a job? What do they do? Will the angel keep up appearances?

Lastly, when considering your angel think about how the angel feels about the other supernatural creatures that roam the world? Vampires and Lycanthropes, Mages and Psychics, how does the angel view these beings?

Innate Powers & Abilities

• Celestial Name - All angels have a name that was whispered to them by the Creator, or by the Archangel that created them. This name, while not being a true name, allows the angel to be prayed to and for the angel to hear those prayers.
• Might - An angel's true form is enough to overwhelm most human senses, capable of burning the eyes out of a person's skull. Their true voice can shatter glass and sounds as a high pitched whine which is both deafening and excruciating to human beings and other supernatural creatures. The more powerful the angel, the more pronounced this effect is, with Archangels capable of being fatal to humans if they do not restrain their brilliance and power.
• Vessel - Similar to demons, angels require a host, which is called a vessel, in order to interact physically with the world while on Earth. However, they must have the vessel's permission before they can take control. While in possession of a host,the angel has access to all of the host's memories. When angels are disembodied on Earth, they can fly anywhere they desire, usually in the form of bright smoke or pure light.
• Supernatural Strength - Once possessing a vessel, angels use their power to dramatically increase the physical strength threshold of their hosts. Their strength varies from angel to angel, depending on their position within the celestial hierarchy; lesser angels (Naturae & Custos) are still considerably powerful and are able to destroy most monsters and regular to mid-level demons. Pralia and Grigori angels can destroy all monsters and middle to high-level demons and virtually all lesser angels. Archangels are the most powerful class of angels of all and one of the most powerful beings in Creation overall and can kill just about anything they have a mind to.
• Supernatural Reflexes & Speed - Once possessing a vessel, angels use their power to increase the physical reflexes and speed of their host to supernatural levels. Even lesser angels are still considerably faster than most monsters and mid-level angels, able to race vampires and lycanthropes and win with ease. The degree of effect depends on the angel's position within the celestial hierarchy, with Seraphim and Thrones being faster than lower tier angels and Archangels being the fastest of all.
• Supernatural Endurance - Angels never tire, and they do not require food, water, oxygen, or sleep to sustain themselves. Angelic vessels are also nearly impossible to harm. The only things capable of killing angels are Angel Blades, Holy Fire, a stronger Angel. Certain potent angels can break their vessels and cast themselves back to Heaven, but this is not a true death, only an escape. Archangels have even fewer weaknesses they can only be killed conventionally by Archangel Blades. If an angel's vessel is damaged, it will repair itself nearly instantly unless the wound was caused by angelic weaponry or inflicted by supernatural means. Angels are immortal. They do not age and cannot be killed by any ailment or mortal damage. Some angels have existed since the beginning of time.
• Supernatural Senses - All angels enhance their vessel's senses to a superhuman level. Angels possess an acute sense of smell. This sense of smell is heightened to the point where they can identify people by smelling their body, bones, or by their blood. Angels can also identify people by sniffing their genes and hormones as well. Because angels operate on a different plane of existence, they can see across all spectrums of light, including infrared and ultraviolet, which are impossible for humans to see. Angels can hear a human's conversation from a considerable distance away. They also have an amazing sense of taste and are able to taste every molecule in a morsel of food.
  • Additionally, Angels are able to see almost all supernatural activity around them including things which are normally in the Astral realm or the Shadowlands, which remain invisible except to those they are seeking. They can also see angels, recognize demons for what they are, and see other invisible entities. This perception also extends to electromagnetic waves, and angels can decipher radio modulation signals.
  • Angels are generally immune to illusions unless created by higher level angels or high-level demons.
• Shared Telepathy - Angels can communicate with each other through a shared telepathic link, termed by some as "Angel Radio". This communication happens at the speed of thought, which not only makes it fast, but secure as well.
• Immunity to Mind Control - Magic which deals with summoning and binding angels is difficult to enact and difficult to sustain. Outside of Enochian magic, using magic to control an angel is a good way to piss it off. Their minds cannot be manipulated by any means, by beings less powerful than other angels or high level angels.
• Limited Cosmic Awareness - All angels have a certain degree of knowledge and awareness of the universe. They have knowledge of demons, other angels, symbols, spells, artifacts, prophets, Nephilim and more. They also generally have awareness of the level of power a being has.
• Cooperative Power - Angels, like magicians and witches, are able to work together in a ritualistic way, combining their powers and achieving orders of magnitude of strength that are truly frightening. An angel must volunteer to cooperate in these efforts and cannot be compelled to do so. When angels combine their powers, one angel is nominated as the leader and directs the combined power.
• Angel Blades - Angel Blades are weapons carried by most angels. They are long, silver, triple-edged daggers (cross section of the blade would be a three pointed star) that can be used to kill angels, Nephilim, hellhounds, demons, and other supernatural creatures. However, Angel Blades can only harm but not kill an Archangel. When an Angel Blade is used to kill an angel, intense light exploded from the vessel, leaving the body withered. This weapon is considerably powerful as it is one of the few weapons that could kill Angels and Reapers, making them one of the most powerful weapons in existence.

Weaknesses

• Angelic Exorcism - There is an exorcism chant to expel angels from their human vessels and send them back to heaven. The Whore of Babylon also knew an Enochian chant which causes angels severe pain.
• Enochian Sigils - Enochian sigils belong to a type of magic that originated from the Enochian language. Both demons and angels have knowledge of the sigils, although the use originated from the latter. This branch of magic is heavily reliant on use of runes derived from the eponymous language of the angels. Hunters have some knowledge of it, but do not completely understand it.
  • Energy Focusing Sigil - Focuses energy in a beam capable of killing any angel directly in its path. The target angel explodes, atomizing other angels nearby, and obliterating everything else in the area.
  • Angel Depowering Sigil - A sigil capable of depowering an angel. Archangels are significantly weakened though not fully depowered by this.
  • Angel Imprisoning Sigil - It could temporarily imprison them, similar to a Devil's Trap. When imprisoned, they usually lose their powers temporarily. The sigil also blocks any sound from inside of the warded room to be heard by any angels in outside of the room.
  • Angel Proofing Sigil - It prevents an angel from entering a room, or listening sounds coming from inside.
  • Angel Suppressing Sigil - It is used to give control of a vessel to the human the angel is inhabiting.
  • Angel Ward - Angel wards are Enochian-based symbols that prevent the entry of an angel from a certain location.
• Holy Fire - Encasing an angel in a circle of flames created from Holy Oil (Any oil consecrated by a religious authority) will trap an angel. The trapped angel still can use some of their powers, but touching the flame will kill the vessel and the angel.
• Magic - The right spells, most of which will incorporate Enochian magic, can banish, kill, or restrain angels.
• Angel Blades/Archangel Blades - Any angel, with the exception of archangels, can be killed by stabbing him or her with an angelic blade or sword in a vital area of their vessel.
• Angel Blade Bullets - Bullets forged from melted-down angel blades are capable of killing all angels apart from archangels.
• Archangel Blades - An archangel blade can kill any angel, including an archangel. However, it must be wielded by another archangel to kill an archangel. On rare occasions, the archangel blade can be used to kill an archangel if the wielder is a vessel who is powered by an archangel from within even though the vessel retains control.
• High Level Demons - Princes of Hell are capable of taking on just about any angel, other than Archangels, and winning by destroying the angel outright. Grigori angels are a match for Princes in terms of raw power, with Praelia and Custos angels being roughly equivalent to a Knight of Hell.
• Removal & Devouring of the Heart - A sufficiently powerful individual could rip an angel's heart out of the human vessel, which would kill the angel's vessel. By devouring the heart, the angel is also killed.

Power Limits
