Miacaela Amedea

History

Miacaela is the youngest of six children born to a devout Catholic family. Her father was an Italian businessman, her mother an Irish musician. Being the youngest afforded Mia a certain freedom in choosing a career for her brothers followed in the family business and her older sisters could marry and carry on the family line. Growing up in Italy among so much Renaissance era arts and architecture, Mia developed a love of those elements.

In college, she studied Art and Music history and trained in art restoration at the Institute Palazzo Spinelli in Florence. In her senior year when given the opportunity, she participated as an international student in the US. Currently employed as a contractor to various museums, she is working for the restoration department of the Denver Art Musuem where she is working to repair and maintain their treasured works. A less common career, but one that stirs her passions.

She attends church regularly, confesses her sins weekly, and lives by the word of God. The Swan in her blood that allows her to shapeshift, along with the overprotective nature of her family, seems to have instilled deep caution and a bit of naivety in the woman. But, she is sweet and kind, and easily overlooked.

Or, at least she was until catching the attention of a vampire and becoming his lover. While still unassuming and faithful, she is slowly becoming more aware of herself and how others seem to view her.

Powers & Abilities

Innate Swan Powers

  • Perfection - Swanmanes, regardless of male or female, radiate charisma and exude sex appeal. This tends to make them very popular as they are almost always very attractive people, and people trust the swan before they probably should. Whatever a swan does, they seem to do with effortless grace and ease that comes to them as naturally as breathing.
  • Delicious Aroma - Swanmanes are often considered to be the perfect prey by many vampires and lycanthropes and radiate an aroma which is incredibly appealing. While the swan is at peace or is calm and tranquil, even those with supernatural senses have to be close to catch the scent, but as the swan becomes angry, upset, or distressed, the odor strengthens.

Breed Specific Powers

  • Deny the Hunter - Referred to sometimes by younger swanmanes as "Stealth Mode", this power enables the swan to turn invisible at need but only for a brief time,
  • Calm - The swanmane with this ability can help ease mental distress in others, salving psychological ailments or turbulent emotions, and granting a measure of calmness and tranquility
  • Eyes from Above - The swan can inflict someone with a crippling vertigo, equivalent to that feeling in the pit of your stomach when you begin going downhill on a rollercoaster mixed with dizziness and wooziness. This effect will only last around 10 minutes, with less time involved for those with strong minds.
  • Soporific Touch - The swanmane can put someone it touches into a deep sleep, even if the target is not something that usually needs to sleep.
    • This power puts the target to sleep for the duration of a scene, after which they awake feeling refreshed and probably irritated.
  • False Death - The swanmane can fake its own death. When this power is used its body explodes in a welter of gore and blood, leaving bloodstained hair/feathers, clothes in its wake. In reality, the swan has stepped into the Astral realm long enough to fool others into believing it is dead. The swanmane can spend 5 minutes in the Astral realm, traveling away from the site of its supposed death before the Swanmane is forced back into the real world.

Skinwalker Talents

  • Sense Enhancement (Touch) - The Skinwalker selects one of his senses - sight, sound, smell, touch, or taste - and augments it, elevating the chosen sense to the level of supernatural senses.
  • Empathic Awareness - Animals are often very attuned to the emotional context around them. Skinwalkers with this ability have an intuitive understanding of the emotional charges around them and are able to affect it. They can either generate a sense of calm that helps to alleviate stress/pressure, or can add to it by increasing fear, nervousness, and the like.
  • Chameleon's Cloak - The Skinwalker gains the ability to rapidly adjust the pigmentation of its skin, enabling it to blend into the background in order to avoid being seen. This power isn't fool proof against beings with enhanced visual acuity but can be very useful.
  • Crocodile's Gift - The Skinwalker can adjust how its own body generates heat, switching between being warm-blooded and cold-blooded (or, more accurately endo- and ecto-thermic.) This can be a useful talent in a world of FLIR-cameras and for avoiding security systems.
    • Additionally, the Skinwalker can touch someone and use this power to change the way their body generates heat. This can be done as a form of attack (lycanthropes burn hotter than humans, if they become ectothermic and live in cold climates, they are in trouble) in order to induce hyper- or hypo-thermia.
  • Stun - The Skinwalker is capable of generating a miniature shockwave which stuns a target or targets within a 20 ft radius. This effect briefly renders the target(s) unable to move, giving the Skinwalker time to escape or launch an attack.
  • Fennec's Fancy - Inspires affection in others, making the Skinwalker appear super cuddly, drawing on the 'omg how adorable' factor to make others less inclined to attack or harm the Skinwalker.
  • Prince of the Earth - On land, sea, or in the air, natural animals sense the Skinwalker's connection to nature and will only attack the Skinwalker if it is protecting its young or the Skinwalker attacks it first.
