Delilah Ashe

History

Del's parents were blue collar, closer to poverty than the middle class. Her dad worked in a mechanic's shop where Del would tinker around growing up, while her mother always wanted more. When they split up, her mother hooked herself an accountant and their financial situation improved. To Del, the man was domineering and impossible. When she wouldn't conform to his standards and began displaying signs of magical abilities, the only answer in his book was that she had to be tangled up with the wrong crowd and delving into the occult. Upon turning 16, Del left home and started supporting herself through a series of entry level jobs.

A couple years ago, she hooked up with a guy and took a job with him at an automotive shop. Unbeknownst to Del, the garage belonged to a gangster named Axel Demothi and her boyfriend was skimming parts and selling them. When Axel found out, he made a violent example of her boyfriend, but showed her a touch of mercy, allowing Del to pay back the debt for the stolen parts, rather than any of the other things he could have done or demanded. Del slaved away in a dingy diner close to the slum she rented for shelter, and turned over 90% of her earnings each week.

It was a slow process, during which, Del did a favor for a member of a local motorcycle club. That, in turn, earned her a favor from the club's leader, although he didn't take her direction to fuck off. Worn down by living on scraps, she asked for a job at his garage to earn money faster. They continued to be at odds, with Del quitting the mechanic gig after one of many fights. One night he found her fending off a couple of drunk college boys at a bar. His rescue became a one night stand, resulting in a pregnancy. It seemed they were destined to be together, and he eventually struck a bargain with Axel over who would control various aspects of the area's illegal and legal activities. The deal saw Del's debt paid in full.

Del's relationship with Darrion Beldar continued to deepen. She became the Priestess to his Priest, became accepted by his club as one of their own, married the biker outlaw, and gave birth to his first born son. As turmoil in Denver hit the charter there particularly hard, the original charter was called in to help, leading to Del moving with the Sons of Annubis to the mountain city.

Magic Sources

  • Lifeweb - There is another type of energy which is fueled by the earth, but this one takes the form of the energy that all life generates. The magician is able to tap into this energy, drawing on the power of the life around him to fuel his magical prowess. In so doing, the magician must be cautious, drawing too much power from the things around him can kill those self-shame things.
    • Passive Power: Pulse of the Invisible - Because the magician draws power from life and living things around herself, she gains a sense of the amount of life, and thus energy, around her. This makes the magician incredibly difficult to sneak up on, as the magician becomes aware of living things around her.
    • Weakness: This connection with all living things around the magician can be a curse. Because the magician draws power from living things, she can draw on these things hard enough to kill them. When this happens, the magician feels each of those deaths.
  • Leylines/Geomancy - Criss crossing the earth are invisible lines of power, a sort of energy that is generated by the earth itself. In some ways these lines resemble magnetic fields or electrical current, appearing to a person who can perceive them as shimmering blue enerrgy. The magician with this source is able to recognize and tap these lines of power, using the innate energies of the earth to fuel the magic. Using this power, sometimes called 'tapping the line', creates a sort of emotional high than can be addicting.
    • Passive Power: Draw Power - The magician can draw more power from leylines than most other magicians can from therir various sources. They can also store this energy in crystal or gemstones creating batteries for themselves to be drawn on later. These batteries must be recharged.
    • Weakness: Magicians with this source have a bad habit of allowing their ego's to swell with the amount of power they can draw on. Additionally, the further a magician with this source moves away from the leylines the weaker their magic can grow.
  • Power Item - The magician draws his magical prowess from an item. This item can be something significant to the magician himself, an heirloom passed down through the ages within a family, or something found and must be portable. Magicians who have an object as a source must carry their object with them in order to work their magic.
    • Passive Power: Reinforcement - The magician with this source subtly changes the nature of the item which serves as it's source. The item becomes supernaturally strengthened, capable of intercepting bullets or taking hits from supernatural strength without breaking.
    • Weakness - The item is the source of the magician's power and if stolen or taken away the magician is unable to work magic.
  • Power Substance - Some magicians believe they have to injest or imbibe something in order to work their magic. For some shamans this may be mushrooms, for a native american it may be peyote. Regardless of what the substance is, the magician was injest it, or in some other way apply it to their bodies before they can work their magic.
    • Passive Power: Resistence - Magicians with this source are accustomed to imbiding large quanities of the substance that empowers their magic. They become immune to the harmful effects of poisons or toxins.
    • Weakness: Remove the ability of the magician to find its substance and you remove the ability of the mage to work magic.
