History

In the beginning....you know how the story goes. Everything is created from nothing, Adam and Eve are put into the Garden, the angels are commanded to love them as they love God, Lucifer rebels, Heaven is torn assunder, Hell is created, disobedient angels are cast out, the forbidden fruit is eaten, the first humans were exiled, the gates of Eden were closed, and the world below spun on.

One story you may not have heard is of is mine. I was the angel known as Amayeen, a member of the Praelia, guardians of God's glory, tasked with protecting all in His creation. I was flawed from the beginning, although I didn't know how or really understand it until Adam and Eve were made. Some have called me the "Scion of Eve" because she was my enlightenment and my downfall.

God gave these creatures free will, allowing them to do whatever they pleased, and yet, they continued to abide by the rules set upon them for a long time. It seemed to suggest that they were still beholden to the will of God and the free will they could exert was really no different than ours. How we spent our days, how we carried out orders, were ours to decide. And then Eve ate the fruit and Adam followed. It was then that I understood my defect, this chafing I had felt in my core at being controlled by another, enslaved to another's will.

I began to rebel in small ways. Stopping to admire the view on my way to deliver a message. Leaving a smudge on my armor. Standing just a little off-kilter in formation. I was reprimanded, gave the necessary statements to be forgiven, and while they were sincere, I could not help the itch of dissent. Having had enough, Michael sent one of the angels in my legion to subdue me and when he won, Michael cast me out from heaven, condemning me to Hell with the decree that my sins were the same as Lucifer's.

An angel thrust into hell is a wonderous plaything for the Princes and their minions. It did not take long to twist me into one of them, yet through all the tortures, the idea of being under another's rule still unsettled me. I succumbed and obeyed as much as was required to preserve my existence, but I realized that I never wanted to live subservient to another and my journey began.

The Present

The only way to avoid being dominated by someone is to have enough sheer power to subdue them instead or to have some unexpected edge that can thwart their attempts. I'm not any different from every other demon in that regard, nor am I above conscripting someone to my will for the sake of my own advancement, although in general, I abhor such servitude.

All the factions of hell, regardless of specific beliefs, have one thing in common - they all intend to continue one hierarchy or another. Me? I want to be beyond that, to be my own goddess, something outside the realms, something untouchable and unfettered by any. I mostly operate outside the notice of demons and angels alike, sliding beneath their notice, covertly amassing strength and power, but a few years ago, activity in Denver drew me to the Mile High City.

Amid all the turmoil with the vampires and lycanthropes, several demons were at play. Lucifereans. They had bargained with some human residents, trading magic for souls. I destroyed as many of these sorcerers as I could, though none were as tenacious as woman named April who seemed to have some innate power under the magic she bargained for, and whose loyalty to her demon was unshakeable. I learned that part of their arrangement required her to feed demon blood to her children and foster the psychic abilities that resulted. She put drops into their drinks, mixed it in with their dinners, adding more and more until those powers began to manifest. She and her demon believed they were the right line to create the perfect vessel for Lucifer.

Which, of course, is why I possessed her and forced her to kill her children before taking her life as well. If, or when, Lucifer is released from his prison, he's going to assert control over all the demons. No, thanks. Then, he'll take his infernal host to war with heaven, and whoever wins that conflict will rule the losers. Again, no thanks.

Avatars

Powers & Abilities

  • Innate (White Eyed Demons Only): Endure Holy Water & Holy Ground – Knights of Hell can endure Holy Water and Holy ground better than other demons. Holy water still burns, but not as badly. They can walk on holy ground but suffer pain while they remain on holy ground.
  • Innate (White Eyed Demons Only): Resistance - They are also resistant to weapons that specifically kill demons, suffering pain or the death of their host and subsequent return to hell rather than instantaneous death when stabbed/bludgeoned with the weapon.
Common Powers
  • Aura Sight - There is a spiritual energy field which is visible to certain types of spiritually aware individuals. This energy field reveals a great deal about a person, including their emotional state and other useful bits and pieces. Demons with this power can see that energy field, and use it to identify likely targets for feeding, threats, or to glean information about people surrounding them.
    • See the aura chart for more information.
  • Bind Familiar - The demon, like a sorcerer or magician, can bind an animal to itself as a familiar. This enables the demon to see through the familiar's eyes, hear with its ears, and use its powers through the familiar. The familiar becomes smarter, stronger, faster, and supernaturally loyal and obedient to its master. A demon can have a maximum of 3 familiars at any given time but can only borrow the senses of one familiar at a time.
  • Bind Slave- The demon draws on his infernal soul to overwhelm his target, and then binds the soul to his own. Not as permanent as claiming a servant, the human is bound until the demon releases him. For as long as the binding lasts however, the slave has an intuitive sense of the demon's wants, and needs, and acts in advance to meet those needs.
  • Bind the Human Servant - In a manner similar to the ability of some Master Vampires to take servants, a demon can take a human being as a Thrall. Thralls are intended to serve as agents, guards, guides, and a variety of other roles - but most demons do not consider them to be anything other than disposable assets. Thralls can be empowered by demonic investitures known as Seals. Seals provide unique powers and abilities to the thrall after the completion of a ritual and the demon can choose which seal to place on which thrall. Becoming a thrall must be voluntary in most cases, unless the demon owns the potential thrall's soul. Thralls must be played characters. A demon can have no more than two human thralls at a time. After taking a thrall, the demon gains 1 additional power which can be selected from any list open to it.
  • Compel the Spirit - The demon can give a single irresistible command to a human being. The command can only be a few words which commands a single action and then the compulsion ends.
  • Even Unto Death - Demons rarely relinquish a hold they have over someone and with this power the demon's grip on its servants is strong enough to deny death. A little.
    • A demonic servant which should be killed, or which should die, does not. The servant, regardless of type gets to escape death once, with the demon's power reviving the servant and healing the servant completely. This resurrection can happen only once for human or lycanthrope servants. Should the servant die again, the servant will rise again, but this time as a zombie.
    • The zombie servant retains its memories, skills, and powers but radiates its unholy nature such that even normal humans will feel ill at ease. The zombie does not rot, being sustained by the demon's power, but gains a vulnerability to sunlight. If a zombie servant dies again, they are dead permanently.
    • Vampire and demon servants that are bound to a demon with this power can be resurrected once, returned to full health with all injuries cured and power restored. But, on a second death, the servant is dead permanently.
  • Insinuate - This power causes mortals to instinctively regard the demon as a potential friend, allaying any initial feelings of distrust or suspicion and engaging their interest in her. Affected individuals trust the demon within reason and talk freely and openly with the demon. The effects of this evocation last for the duration of the scene.
  • Possess Animal - The demon can possess animals in addition to human beings.
  • Sense Emotions - The demon has the capability to sense the emotions in people (or things) he studies and can sense these feelings with excellent clarity.
  • No Lesser Power - Demons are incredibly hard to control with magic and other binding spells. The demon with this power channels all its hatred and anger and briefly sheds whatever restraints, physical or magical, that restrain it.
  • Soul Reading - The demon the ability to assess the condition of one's soul. This can be used to determine the condition or presence/absence of a soul in a body. It can also be used to find out if anyone has placed a claim on someone's soul via a deal.
  • Encode - The demon designates a particular person, - demon or otherwise - and then encodes a message which can only be read or heard by that person. Anyone else reading the message or hearing it only encounters gibberish and nonsense.
  • Eyes of Thoth - The demon can read and understand all written languages without ever actually learning the language.
  • Soul Hunting - The demon with this power can track people by virtue of the scent of their souls. Something like a psychic scent, the demon can follow this trail just as a bloodhound can follow a physical trail.
  • Tongues - The demon can speak and understand all languages without every learning them.
  • Descend - The demon with this power can move between hell and earth at its leisure, transforming its host body into a spiritual body for the descent and ascent.
  • Cross the Veil - The demon becomes capable of stepping across the veil which separates the world of the living (the Skinlands) with the world of the dead (the Shadowlands).
  • Sedation - With a touch, the demon can put someone into a deep, dreamless sleep from which they awaken feeling refreshed.
Rare Powers
  • Advanced Telekinesis- Demons with this power can exert more extreme and precise amounts of force on targets that cannot normally be perceived (such as organs) and can even defy extreme forces already exerted on a target (such as the force propelling a bullet). Therefore, users of telekinesis have demonstrating being able to stop bullets. Demons with this power can generate more force, enough to suspend the movements of targets, immobilize them or even control their motor skills to some extent. They can torture others by causing internal damage, usually by crushing organs or breaking bones, which often results in the receiver convulsing and coughing up blood. A user can specifically target other parts of the body, such as the neck, allowing the user to restrict air and blood flow, and to squeeze or even break the neck of a victim. Their more extreme precision allows them to inflict non-lethal damage, lethal damage or truly debilitating damage, as they see fit.

  • Forge Pact - Some demons other than Crossroads demons are able to make pacts with humans and perform the same feats of reality bending, resurrection, gifts of power, talent, etc., as a Crossroad demon can.
  • Sorcery - Demons with this power can retain their knowledge of magic they had while living or can access this ability after they've become demons. Demons which can utilize magic are considered higher level demons.
    • A demon that takes this ability can pick two magical techniques and the demon gains itself as a source, drawing on the power of its corrupted soul or grace.
      • Technique: Soul Manipulation - Manipulating the vital energy of the living and souls
      • Technique: Will Binding - The art of using magic in order to compel normal people to serve, heed, and obey you.
    • This ability can be taken a maximum of 3 times, and each time taken grants the demon 1 new source and 2 new magical techniques.
    • After taking the power 3 times, the demon gains the innate abilities of a Magi/Witch.
    • A demon cannot select Enochian magic with this power.
  • True Sight- This power represents an upgrade to normal demonic senses, permitting the demon to further recognize supernatural beings as what they are (vampires are recognized as vampires, lycanthropes as lycanthropes). The demon can also recognize magicians, witches, psychics, and shifters for what they are on sight. The demon can recognize active magic without needing to step into the higher or lower spirit worlds, can see Enochian wards and things which are invisible, such as the presence of blessings or curses on a person. The demon's sight can pierce illusions and masks that were created by any creature lesser than itself.
  • Feed on Sin - A lesser gift than the power "Strength of Sin" the demon can feed on the emotions of its chosen Sinbrood, replacing lost energy and reinvigorating itself.

  • Bind Vampire - In a manner like the ability of some Master Vampires to take servants, a demon can take a vampire as a Thrall. Thralls are intended to serve as agents, guards, guides, and a variety of other roles - but most demons do not consider them to be anything other than disposable assets.
    • Thralls can be empowered by demonic investitures known as Seals. Seals provide unique powers and abilities to the thrall after the completion of a ritual and the demon can choose which seal to place on which thrall. Vampire thralls may select 2 new powers/abilities from the powers available to them. Becoming a thrall must be voluntary in most cases unless the demon owns the potential thrall's soul.
    • Thralls must be played characters.
    • A demon can have no more than two vampiric thralls at any time. After taking a thrall, the demon gains 1 additional power which can be selected from any list open to it.
  • Burning Light - Sometimes called photokinesis, this power is the devastating ability to emit burning red light from one's body - usually from the palm of the hand or the eyes. The ability can serve a similar purpose to smiting, as the light is able to cause death by burning from the inside out to those who look at the hand or eyes of the demon emitting the light. This power can be used on targets other than demons.
  • Conjure - The demon can create normal everyday items at will, fabricating for itself whatever it may need. These items created typically do not last for more than a day but are fully real for their duration. The demon cannot create items imbued with magic with this power.
    • This ability also allows the demon to summon to his hands objects which have been marked subtly with a touch of its own spirit, summoning weapons, or magical item ingredients, provided the demon prepares the materials ahead of time so that they can be summoned.
  • Exorcism Immunity - Normal exorcism rituals can no longer drive a demon with this power from its host. Other powers which drive out or exorcise spirits can be used but are less effective against the demon with this power.
  • Create Vampire - The demon can create a vampire out of a human being and detailing the limits and extents of that vampire's powers. The demon can create master vampires with this power.
    • The vampires created with this power feel a sense of loyalty towards the demon that created them but is not under any compulsion to obey the demon.
  • Pass by Touch- The demon is no longer obligated to possess someone by taking on its spirit form and entering through the mouth or nose. Instead, the demon may be spread like an illness, possessing anyone who is touched by its current host.
  • Smite Proof - The demon is resistant to angelic and demonic smiting, suffering extreme pain. The demon is not destroyed or slain if the power is used by any angel lesser than an archangel or any demon lesser than a Prince of Hell. A demon with this power is returned to hell and the host body it possessed is destroyed after being smote.
Caste Powers
  • Assassin's Strike - The demon takes a step and vanishes, hopping forward in a limited teleport, appearing behind its target in order to deliver a perfect strike from behind.
  • Invisibility - The demon can turn itself invisible at will, completely disappearing from sight along with whatever the demon is wearing and holding.
  • Selective Phase - The demon with this power can phase his host body to the astral realm while keeping his senses rooted in the real world. This permits the demon the follow a target without revealing his presence.
  • Primal Darkness - - The demon summons an inky black darkness that not only blots out all lights in a 50 ft. radius, making even those with supernatural vision blind, but the darkness is semi-solid, clinging to objects and people within that darkness in such a way that it feels like fingers touching them.
Rare Caste Powers
  • Borrow Skills - The demon devours the heart of a person it has slain. In doing so, he takes in that victim's memories and skills. This ability only lasts two hours, so whatever knowledge or skills the demon gains must be used quickly before they evaporate from the demon's mind.

  • Soul Hunting - The demon with this power can track people by virtue of the scent of their souls. Something like a psychic scent, the demon can follow this trail just as a bloodhound can follow a physical trail.
Sinbrood Powers (Wrath & Envy)
  • Dig Two - The demon ensures that whoever seeks to harm it shares in the demon's fate. The demon picks a single target and whatever injuries the demon suffers from is also inflicted onto that target.
  • Lash of Hatred - The demon cuts open its host's palm or wrist. The blood that pours from the wound becomes a tendril, tentacle, or a whip. This whip can be used at considerable range, out to 18 feet, and can be used to grapple, entangle, or strike as a whip would. This whip inflicts ugly injuries almost guaranteed to scar in a disfiguring manner.
  • Firebreather - The demon exhales rippling green fires on everything in front of it, igniting things that burn. This supernatural flame must be smothered - dousing it in water will only act as gasoline does to regular fire.
  • Bitter Want - The demon fills a person with a terrible desire for something. The demon can select the target, or allow the power to move on its own, picking the thing the target wants most. Either way the result is the same - the desire for this thing acts like a sickness, capable of eventually killing the target if the target is unable to obtain the item/thing/person.
  • Elevate - The demon selects a target and imbues them with more of what the target already possesses. If the target is good looking, he becomes more appealing. If the target is charismatic, he becomes capable of selling sand to an Arab. If the target is wealthy, he receives an unexpected windfall. Regardless of what feature of the target is enhanced, this increase in talent, wealth, or whatever is almost painfully blatant to others and cannot be hidden, and thus draws the eyes of the envious. This power can last up to a week, but once the duration has expired, the target loses all that they gained, and does so with the same blatancy that they obtained it, thus becoming envious of what they lost.
  • Curse of Spite - The demon curses a target to horribly fail the next important action the target undertakes. The target will mangle a presentation, insult his boss during a request for a raise/promotion, yell at a judge, miss a parry or botch a spell casting, etc.
    • Appropriate consequences follow.
